The King’s Storehouse
Started in 2012 when the church saw people all around who had fallen on hard times – many through no fault of their own. We rose to the challenge to try to meet some of the needs.
It was initially supported purely by the members of Wellspring Christian Centre who every time they went shopping, would buy an extra couple of cans or packets and bring them to church each Sunday; but now it is also getting great support from the local businesses and members of the public for which we are extreamely grateful.
The purpose of The King’s Storehouse is first and foremost to help those who for whatever reason have, find themselves on hard times and to try to put food in their bellies.
The long term vision of The King’s Storehouse is to give people a hand up and not just a handout.
A hand out whilst important, addresses just the symptoms and meets the need briefly but fails to address the problem.
A hand up, seek to address the cause and tries to help people back onto their feet so that in time, they become a contributor in society and not just a receiver.
What’s the catch?
We’ve already been asked this question several times, along with “what do we have to do?” and “what are you expecting from us?”. The answer is simple – nothing!
Just receive the gift of food knowing it comes from people who care about you and want to help you.
In every box or packet of food, we place an invitation to the church with the service times and weekly activities. Have a read, you’ll be made very welcome.
